Submarine Dive

Submarine tour in Tenerife: dive to 30 metres from Marina Amarilla and see wrecks and fish from your own porthole. From age 2.

Dive 25 to 30 metres under the Atlantic aboard a real tourist submarine, the Sub Fun Cinco, departing from Marina Amarilla in the south of Tenerife. Everyone sits in front of one of its 22 large portholes to see the wrecks on the seabed and fish in their natural habitat.

A multilingual audio guide explains what you see, and a screen shows the depth and water temperature. Inside, surface pressure is maintained and it is air-conditioned, so you do not feel the depth and it does not rock like a boat: it is suitable for pregnant women and people with ear problems. The dive lasts about 50 minutes; with boarding, around an hour.

Children from age 2 are welcome. At the end you get a colour fish chart and a dive certificate. The operator runs a bus with pick-up in Las Américas, Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje and other areas. Not wheelchair accessible.

Frequently asked questions

Is it a real submarine?

Yes. It is the «Sub Fun Cinco», a 44-passenger submarine with 22 large portholes, 11 on each side, and two even bigger ones at the ends. It dives to between 25 and 30 metres, where most of the marine life lives. It is not a glass-bottom boat.

Can small children come?

Yes, from the age of 2. For safety reasons the operator does not take children under 2 under any circumstances.

Can pregnant women or people with ear problems come down?

Yes. The submarine keeps normal pressure inside, the same as on the surface, so it does not affect pregnant women, people with ear problems or anyone with a heart condition.

Will I get seasick or feel claustrophobic?

A submarine does not rock like a boat. Inside it is roomy and bright, with a central aisle: it feels like a small plane, except the seats face outwards with a big window in front of each one. If you are still unsure, tell us and we will talk it through before you book.

Is there a hotel pick-up?

The operator runs a bus that picks up daily in Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje, Playa Paraíso and Callao Salvaje, and once a week in Puerto de Santiago and Los Gigantes. Tell us where you are staying and we will confirm the stop and the time.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

No. Getting on and off the submarine means climbing two short vertical ladders.

Is food included?

Food is not included, but the marina has a café and facilities, and there is a little time before and after the dive to look around.
